| Petition Text: | I am writing to you today as a concerned citizen and a sufferer of vertiginous syndrome, a condition that severely impacts my ability to work and maintain a livelihood. I find myself in a challenging situation where my application for disability benefit has been denied due to the means-tested payment system, primarily because of my husband's income. I implore you to reconsider this system and extend support to individuals like me who genuinely require assistance for our well-being and quality of life.
Vertiginous syndrome is an incapacitating condition that has left me unable to maintain employment and support myself financially. This situation has placed immense strain on my family, as my husband's income alone is not sufficient to cover our living expenses. I believe it is unjust to assess eligibility for disability benefits .
Furthermore, the rising cost of living in Ireland has made it increasingly challenging for families like ours to make ends meet. Therefore, I respectfully request that you consider raising the disability benefit allowance to a minimum of 357 euros per week. This adjustment is essential to ensure that recipients can afford the basic necessities and maintain a decent standard of living.
I urge the Irish Government to review the current eligibility criteria for disability benefits .
