Petition Title:Need for a mechanism for a psychiatric nurse to transfer to a suitable geographical area
Submitted By:Individual
Petition Text:My name is James Dooney, from Sheepwalk Frenchpark Co Roscommon. I am forty five years old; I returned to college in 2004 as a mature student and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychiatric Nursing by 2008. I have worked for Five Years in Dublin. I accepted the offer of a permanent position despite the geographical position being totally unsuitable. At the time I accepted the position in Dublin I was advised by an individual in the National Recruitment in Manorhamilton Co Leitrim that if I were to be employed in the HSE it may prove easier to get relocation than if I was not a HSE employee. I subsequently sought that relocation to be told that there is no transfer policy in existence in the HSE. In fact there is no mechanism for a psychiatric nurse to relocate to a geographically appropriate position other than seek another position in the desired area and compete for that position with others who may not work for the HSE. There are many HSE employed psychiatric nurses working in geographically unsuitable positions while new positions are being open to new employees. It is inconceivable that there can not be a mechanism devised to operate an effective transfer of a psychiatric nurse from one geographical area to another. I would like to submit a petition to have it investigated why the HSE do not have an effective mechanism for a psychiatric nurse to freely move within the HSE subject to a position existing
