Petition Title:Health Care -V- Water Charges
Submitted By:Individual
Petition Text:Dear Parliamentary Committee I wish to make my views known to you in regard to being hospitalised last Friday night, and having waited for many hours to see a Doctor. I am a VHI member and it made no difference to me for paying such membership. I walked into Ballinasloe A&E and it was like walking into a camp in Africa where they are treating the Ebola patients. There were trolleys everywhere and from what I could see, staff was spending more time writing and on computers than patient care. The nurses and doctors appear to be doing more secretarial work than what they are qualified best at. I was on a trolley from Friday night to Sunday morning and came home tired and weary from my experience. Enda Kenny and Leo Vradkar please wake up and see what is happening. We have a huge increase in population over the last 10 years to include refugees (doing nothing about their citizenship/deporting either). Hospitals have closed down instead of expanding them. Merlin Park Hospital, with its many acres of green fields, should be the ideal location for UHG. To get to the point I want to make - I think it would be far more beneficial for you to introduce a "Universal Health System" instead of placing all your energies into Irish Water. We can well survive with the water system we have at the moment, but our health system cannot wait. (contd. in next box)
