Name of Petitioner:Mr Fergal McElvaney
Petition Title:Placing a cap on election posters based on area popultions
Submitted By:Individual
Petition Text:To place a cap on the number of election posters (both for local and national elections) based on the population of the electoral area. 1 poster per candidate per 1000 local population. A self regulating simple system to save on environmental waste and waste of funds. Political parties would police each other. Posters would naturally be placed in prominent positions rather than every lamp post in a constituency. The litter laws that apply after an election would be far more manageable and could then be extended to include cable ties that are regularly left behind. Creates a more equal footing for smaller parties. Forces politicians to engage with the public in more modern forums rather than archaic methods of faces on posters.
