| Petition Text: | Change the name of the ‘Department of Justice and Equality’ to the ‘Department of Legal Affairs’.
The notion of ‘Justice’ refers to the administration of ‘Fairness’. However, the world is not fair. There is nothing we can do about it as it is the nature of life. Attempting to make the world ‘fair’ is akin to changing the laws of physics. No matter how well meaning policy makers or members of the legal profession may be, it is a goal that will never even be close to being attained.
My proposition is one of honesty and practicality. The other department names accurately reflect their purpose. I view calling it the ‘Department of Justice and Equality’ as disingenuous.
The ‘Department of Justice and Equality’ deals with legal affairs, not Justice. |
