Petition Title:Retain tarriff C for taxi journeys
Submitted By:Unincorporated association of persons
Unincorporated Association Name:National private hire & taxi association
Petition Text:tariff c (rate €1.77 per km) and replace it with lower tariff (€1.45 per km)during daytime hrs. from 30/4/15. This will affect drivers earnings particularly drivers at transport terminals. This rate was introduced to replace off meter agreements. The higher tariff was to compensate drivers leaving their licenced area and having to return to licenced area unoccupied (drivers are not allowed by law to pick outside licenced area). No off meter agreements are now allowed under legislation. I handed in petition to NTA with several hundred names objecting to its removal. A submission from National private hire and taxi association the largest representative group of which I am a member was also submitted objecting to changing avail. tariffs. The NTA did have a public consultation process but did not negotiate with any individual or group. NTA could have contacted all registered PSV licence holders by text or email and asked them do they agree with the changes and got sense of what taxi drivers want or not. I believe this to be unfair. I have tried through public reps to obtain all submissions to clarify who requested this change and the support for same. NTA explain the change as simplifying the tariff system. most passengers are only concerned what the journey costs not how it is calculated. I believe this decision to be unjust and unfair and certainly not transparent. time is of the essence your help is appreciated to retain tariff c
