Name of Petitioner:Mr. Eugen Mitchell
Petition Title:The Incorrect allocation of Public Funds allocated for flood prevention in a specified area.
Submitted By:Individual
Petition Text:Galway County Council got €15,000 of public money to alleviate flooding around my house, public road and gate lodge accross the road. They drew this money which came from European Parliament and done nothing in return. I reported this to the Public Accounts Committee. They still refuse to do the work they got paid for and my house is constantly in danger of flooding. There are frequent accidents on this road as a result of cars aquaplanning on flood waters and it is only a matter of time before somebody gets killed or injured. Gate lodge across the road is a protected structure and was given €5,000 to preserve it from the Heritage Council. They raised the level of the road in 2006 by 18 inches and this made the problem worse. They commissioned a Hydrologists report rather than carry out the work they were paid for. Galway County Council should be compelled to do the work they got paid for.
