| Petition Text: | Having followed the several submissions to eradicate the railway crossing at the Merrion Gates and all failing to receive the necessary backing by residents, I feel that there can be at least an attempt to shorten the length of time that the barriers are in place.
The wait for a train to pass in both directions is outdated, with most of the time waiting spent on no train passing. Surely with the advancements in technology there is a way to signal when the train is a certain distance away which automates the lowering of the barriers. Levels of safety should certainly be kept, but it makes zero sense to continue with unnecessarily long blockades which stem the flow of traffic. |
