| Petition Text: | I believe the time has come for the people of Ireland to he allowed to make their own choice on the use and consumption of marijuana for recreation.I believe the people are entitled and should be legally allowed to "enjoy" what is a scientifically proven safe drug.I believe that it would generate much needed revenue and would reduce crime and take power away from the sprawling gangland crime. I feel that the government is suppressing the calls of the nation due to their personal ideology that drugs are bad even against the proven facts. Hundred of Irish people die from alcohol related diseases but no-one in this free state has ever died from the use of the currently "illegal" drug.I call for the Dail na Eireann and the Seanad to consider this call which will hopefully be backed by the population. In regard to previous debated by the Irish government I feel they were extremely biased and unfair. In my opinion the seanad and Dail are not fulfilling their duties of protecting and serving their people by denying our pleas.
I personally feel a full legalization would only do good for our nation. I recommend a full referendum for the legalization of marijuana. |
