Petition Text: | This petition is being made in close consultation with Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett. I have accordingly spent considerable time on framing the petition in terms of general issues of great public interest thus avoiding names and/or specifics.
Please note the answer provided in relation to section 1, (response dates from public bodies) is approximate. Unfortunately the final Labour Court response was not dated or signed. Therefore I could only use an approximate date of receipt.
The issues fall under the following headings;
1. To embrace the principals of a republic by placing the citizen before publicly funded third level institutions when it comes to legitimate complaints of malpractice or discrimination.
2. I ask the Committee to implement legislation which ensures student supports, currently available within third level institutions, are made fully independent of teaching staff and management.
3. In order for the Equality Tribunal to stay true to it's name, it must be obliged to treat complaints made by under resourced complainants, to be heard, investigated and adjudicated on an equal footing with well resourced institutions.
4. Funds made available to public institutions at tax payer expense to defend itself against complaints of discrimination must be made conditional on compliance with Article 267 TFEU, RTC Acts 1992 and Equality legislation.
5. The issue of Access to (or lack thereof) to trust worthy private legal services to the ordinary citizen. |
