| Petition Text: | There is no doubt that there is termoil in Syria at the moment, but here in Ireland we are facing problems of our own and are unable to help ourselves let alone others. According to "FocusIreland's" website there are approximately 5000 homeless in Ireland at any one time. Accepting these unskilled Syrians into Ireland will put pressure on the already full welfare system and social housing lists. In addition to this, the hospital waiting lists are overflowing as it is, and bringing in more people will not help this situation. There is also a huge waiting lists for national and secondary schools and there are a shortage of learning support assistants and disability units within the schools, so bringing more people in will again only worsen the situation. It's time for the government to listen to the Irish people and signing petitions is the only way to do it! Let your voices be heard loud! |
